Assistance Dogs International has developed minimum standards and ethics which all member  and candidate programs must follow. This committee updates existing standards and develops new ones. These standards form the basis of the ADI accreditation program.

The public should understand that these are minimum standards. Please take time to read each one to understand all that goes into producing an effective working assistance dog.

Please note
A number of non-accredited assistance dog organizations and some individual private trainers may state that they work to the standards set by Assistance Dogs International or the International Guide Dog Federation. However, they have not been accredited and their work has not been subject to scrutiny by experienced accreditation assessors.
